Patient Services Associate / Medical Records - Temple, TX
Description
The Patient Services Associate, under the direction of the Office Manager, completes tasks and administrative processes as necessary to assure efficient, accurate functioning of the Patient Care Team. The PSA will be assigned to a specific Patient Care Team, and will work directly with the Patient Care Manager to fulfill his/her duties.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Verifies that funding information is accurate, processed and tracked as necessary to assure correct reimbursement for services provided by VistaCare.
2. Files necessary administrative, funding and clinical documentation in the medical record.
3. Assures that all documentation is dated and signed, and the medical record is complete per policy.
4. Assures that medical record documentation is submitted and filed per policy and conducts administrative review of documentation.
5. Ensures the communication of changes in patient information to and from staff.
6. Inputs new and current patient information and daily census information into CareNation.
7. Reconciles reports on a daily basis and coordinates with appropriate departments to resolve discrepancies.
8. Processes accounts payable.
9. Coordinates administrative functions to assure efficiency of the Interdisciplinary Group.
10. Orders and coordinates delivery and tracking of durable medical equipment,
medical supplies, forms and office supplies.
11. Tracks physician orders, certifications, re-certifications and other documentation as required.
12. In the absence of a Site Revenue Coordinator or Receptionist, performs all
functions of that position.
13. Processes daily mail.
14. Answers, responds to and directs incoming telephone communications. 15. Greets and assists visitors.
16. Adheres to VistaCare Standards of Conduct.
17. Has a duty to report any potential misconduct or violation of VistaCare Standards of Conduct or federal or state laws and regulations.
18. Has a responsibility to participate in staff training and education programs.
19. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1. One year of administrative experience required, preferably in a medical
environment.
2. Medical records background and experience with third party insurance
administrators preferred.
3. Associates degree in a related field preferred.
4. Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Office, Internet and e-mail.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
